Tackling food poverty

My Story

I started 2024 with 2 personal objectives - it was time to do more to give back to the community and to keep me really healthy. Having spent many happy holidays hiking in the UK, the Yorkshire 3-Peaks route was the perfect challenge.

And it will be a challenge - if hiking 39 km (nearly a marathon) wasn't enough, the addition of climbing Yorkshire's 3 highest mountains for 1,500+m up (and of course down) gives the added umpf. And all this in less than 12 hours!!

But, the cause is worthy - Sufra NW is a charity close to home. A food and welfare hub, they provide people and families who are vulnerable, homeless or socially isolated with food, warm meals and support to find the help they need in the social care system.  In 2023, their reach was staggering:

  • 305 food parcels issued per week
  • 37,645 food aid recipients supported
  • 14,000 warm meals served
  • 1,406 school uniforms or warm coats provided to guests

With 96p of every £1 spent on charity objectives, your donations will go a long way to supporting many people, who are feeling the cost of living crisis in a way we can't imagine. I, and the many guest who come through Sufra NW's doors, will be grateful for every £/$/EUR you can donate towards my goal.
